Folk (Vernacular)
The Folk, or vernacular, architectural style represented the practical one and two story houses built by average people across the country. They were typically front gabled, sometimes with a wing. They were often overlaid with decorative elements of the popular architectural style of the time.
There are many, many Folk or Vernacular style homes in the Port Huron area. One example is 723 Union Street, a one story Folk Victorian containing a detailed spindlework porch.
